These facilities also provide various levels of care including Residential Treatment Programs, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Outpatient Programs, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Transitional Living and Sober Living Homes, Gender Specific Programs, Primary Mental Health Programs, LGBTQ Programs, and programs that focus on the needs of those suffering with a dual diagnosis.

Addiction Treatment Therapies

An individual’s needs and/or substance abuse history dictates the types of therapies used while in treatment. There are various options for therapy which include individual or group therapy sessions lead by a licensed therapist or addiction counselor.

Biofeedback(CBT)

Biofeedback therapy is when a therapist uses sensors on a client’s skin to provide a view of the individual’s “bio” signs. These sessions are designed to help clients learn emotional regulation and last about 30 to 60 minutes.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a kind of therapy that helps address problematic thoughts and feelings that will effect sobriety and possibly lead to a relapse. CBT is also used in treating dual diagnosis or co-occurring or conditions, such as a mood disorder combined with drug addiction or alcoholism.

Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT)

A type of cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT is the gold standard of treatment for individuals who are suicidal and have borderline personality disorder (BPD). Research also shows that it is effective in treating many other disorders such as depression, trauma/PTSD, drug abuse, alcoholism, and eating disorders.

Experiential Therapy

Experimental therapy helps individuals overcome repressed feelings and helps them explore emotions that may have contributed to the use of alcohol or drugs. These alternative treatment methods may include wilderness therapy, ropes courses, or rock-climbing.

Faith-Based Treatment

Faith-based treatment programs are for clients who are interested in programs and facilities that are designed around their faith and spirituality. In Christian, Jewish, or other faith-based treatment programs, addicts can connect with like minded individuals who are looking to a high power for guidance and to stay strong throughout sobriety.

Holistic Therapy

Holistic therapy often includes guided meditation, yoga, acupuncture and art therapy. Holistic therapy takes into account the mind, body, and spirit or the “whole person.”

Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)

MET helps individuals learn to change their thoughts and behaviors that may be attached to their drug or alcohol addiction. It is often used to treat clients who have bipolar, eating, or other co-occuring conditions.
